Eventually, with many, many hours of adjusting and re-adjusting, we finally got the new deck sort of level. Due to the height of the cables, we had to leave a slight droop in the decking, but it was a vast improvement over the old deck.

Here is what the remodeled bridge looked like shortly after completion on January 5, 1997. Note the cables are only 18 inches above the decking in the center of the bridge.
